Proposed new portable ready mix concrete batch plant near Castle Cary blocked by planning inspector

A COMPANY'S bid to build a portable ready mix concrete batch plant near Castle Cary has been blocked by a planning inspector.

Andrew Hopkins had appealed South Somerset District Council's earlier decision to turn down permission for a new YHZS50 mobile batching plant, with associated offices and access road.
A site visit was made by the inspector on Tuesday, September 15 and he has subsequently turned down the appeal by Hopkins.
The application was initially turned down, largely on the basis that increased traffic caused by the proposed build would affect highway safety on the B3153.
